Qualitative Research Paper Outline
A qualitative research paper is used to gain an understanding of underlying reasons, opinions, and motivations. It provides insights into the problem or helps to develop ideas or hypotheses for potential quantitative research. A Qualitative Research paper is also used to uncover trends in thought and opinions, and get deeper into the problem. Data collection methods used in a qualitative research paper are unstructured or semi-structured techniques.
Qualitative Research Paper Outline
The following is a qualitative research paper outline:
1. Title Page
This is the first page of the research paper and should include the following:
- Paper’s title.
- Writer’s name.
- Writer’s affiliations.
- Contact information for the author set to receive feedback about the paper.
2. Introduction
Your introduction should:
- State a clear purpose of the research study.
- Include a rationale for why your topic is important.
- Consider a statement that explains why a particular setting is important and interesting.
- Demonstrate your familiarity with similar studies or position your study in opposition to what you have previously studied.
3. Literature review
The literature review is the framework and foundation of your study. You should carry out the following in your literature review:
- Develop a brief history of the research which should include articles that support or oppose your position.
- Include the latest research on your topic.
- Assess previous work done on your topic and work to analyze, synthesize, and critique.
- Explain why your topic should be studied further.
- Work to connect and relate the studies together.
4. Methodology.
This section should include:
- Participants. Describe who your participants will be and how they will be selected for the study.
- Data collection methods. Describe how you will collect data, including the length of interviews or observations, and whether you will be working with field notes or transcriptions. You should also describe your role as the researcher and your level of involvement. This section should also include ways you ensured the credibility of your data.
- Data analysis. Describe the method you will use to analyze the data. Ensure that you arte specific and provide appropriate citations.
5. Results and Discussions.
Present the results of your research in this section. The presentation can either be made in a table, graph, or chart. Provide an explanation for every result or conclusion that you present. Ensure that you provide an extensive explanation for your reader to clearly understand what you have presented.
6. References
You should write you references on their own page after the body. Your references should include information such as the authors’ names, publication year, title, page number, and city of publication as well as the publisher.
