Violent Video Games Directly Correlate To Violence In Schools. Agree Or Disagree.

 

 

Violent games leading to violence in school has been a hotly debated topic globally.  It is argued that there is a connection between the violent game and increased levels of violence in school; however, others argue that games themselves don’t cause violence but are a prominent risk factor for real-world behaviour. In my opinion, the debate is that video games truly lead to violence in schools.

Several students experience violent feelings or views after being exposed to video games by playing them or seeing their friends play them.

In my opinion, students who participate in playing video games experience an increase in aggressive thoughts which encourages violent behaviour. Research shows that students who participate in Violent video games a lot end up having aggressive behaviour as compared to those who only watch video games regularly. Currently, there is an increased number of television programs and video games, which has caused a significant influence on society. Due to the lack of information on video games, most students end up imitating what they have watched on games or television programs.

People are more vulnerable to the influence of gaming violence since video games act as stimuli. There is a significant connection between Video violent games and violent action. There have been continuously lighting rods for the mentally ill for violence and revolt.

Video games act as a medium for the young male demographic greatest likely to commit violent acts. We have many forms through which video games can spur one to violent action ( Huesman). Firstly, it can stimulate someone to violence through children imitating the theme of violence in the video game and turn out to be hostile in school. When you get exposed to violent video games regularly, you might get affected and end up being emotionally numb to violence, and this quickens your urge to violence.

Studies show that violent video games can turn students aggressive in real life (Park, 2015}. Villanova University and Rutgers did a study to show how violent video games don’t lead to crime. From their results, they argued that if violence occurred from watching violent media or programs, the cities would be filled or painted red. On this, I would agree with them; however, when I look at the influence media has on people lives makes me disagree with their findings. There is a high number of students getting affected since they don’t know what is going and also, they have that urge of experimenting in real life. Such students portray societal violence, i.e. bullying, physical fighting, criminal assaults and even homicide.

There is a tendency of young people who are mostly students to imitate what their elders do in real life.  The same thing applied in media as they also imitate what they see in media or violent video games. This will probably turn children into being aggressive and violent.  Although other researchers disagree there is no way video games could influence students’ behaviour, there has been enough evidence to prove that its authentic, violent video games influence student behaviour significantly and their response to a different issue. For example, two researchers disagreed that violent video games do not affect the student. Ferguson and Olson’s findings did not back up the widespread belief that violent games lead to an increase in youth aggression.

Yes, I agree that students and most teens currently are inundated with electronic media. Most students have grown up with access to cell phones, computers, iPad and video games as well. I have also come across cases where children in schools are seen playing with their friends what they saw in video games. This shows a cause-effect relationship between television violence and aggression among children and youths in general who participates in video gameplay either directly or indirectly Most children tend to imitate the actions of the characters with whom they identify.

Players who participate in violent video games choose the type of weapons they will use while duelling with other characters. Since video games involve a lot of repetitions and repetition involves learning, if the game is violent, then the effect is a behavioural rehearsal for intense activity.

In conclusion, it is true to state that video games influence the player to have bad behaviour. I absolutely agree with this statement since those children who keep talking about video games; played end up performing poorly in school. When children play video games, they go crazy when they lose, especially when they need to kill someone.  However, not all players of video games end up getting involved in destructive behaviour. Therefore, parents should make sure that their children are not exposed to violent video games as they are linked to violence and negatively affect children. A more nuanced picture of the tipping point between violent games and violence and a better understanding of how the virtual influences regulate real-life behaviour should be surveyed. Hence, I agree that children getting exposed to violent video games tend to have bad behaviours.
