All That Glitters Is Not Gold

"All That Glitters Is Not Gold" is a proverb that implies that every glittering object is not always be gold. The saying has extensively been used to warn young adults against being engaged in almost everything they feel interesting. Gold is a precious mineral that is known to many people by its nature of emitting stunning glitter. The above proverb explains that the spectacular glittering can also be associated with many other inferior quality substances. The wise saying implies that not everything fair is valuable to mankind. This is due to the nature of many beautiful objects ending up being valueless. The proverb is closely related to other sayings such as "Never Judge a Book by Its Cover" and "When The Deal Is Too Good, Think Twice." The meaning of the above wise saying is based on the following reasons.

In most cases, people act more attractively with the aim of cheating. The trick in the false suggestions can further be used to trick the young people in colleges. The saying implies that if someone acts too nice to you, it does not mean that they will offer the best thing that you are hoping for. Some people have used enticing methods to lure young adults to get involved in some weird behaviors. Someone being pleasant to you does not always mean that he/she is telling the truth. The idea of this proverb is built based on bringing out the thoughts of superficial beauty. Ideally, the saying explains how people should avoid being blinded by how a certain material appears physically. Therefore, people should examine an object/activity before concluding that it is worth it.

To be in line with the teachings of "all that glitters is not gold," people, mostly young college students, should learn the importance of staying rational to avoid being lured by material greed. Since every person's senses must acknowledge a glittering object's appearance, it may always turn out not to be gold when rational, logical thinking is applied. Thus, every individual must make a sensible and logical decision before engaging in anything that seems to be appealing.

Proper analysis of any given object or opportunity must involve critical thinking to determine if it is worthy. Many people may offer most of the things that seem to be useful, but they eventually turn out to be worthless. The first attempt at receiving a fair offer should always sound like a warning to every individual interested in an object or opportunity. The objector opportunity may never be what it seems. This happens because many liars try to make the outward appearance of an object more appealing than what is exactly inside. Before concluding on whether to accept or decline such an offer, an individual should apply the most critical thinking to examine its nature.

Many people get trapped in glittering situations because of poverty. Poor people get interested in leaving the lifestyles being enjoyed by the wealthy class. Such people tend to do everything that will render them becoming rich and wealthy like their colleagues. However, they fail to understand that wealthy people still experience some social and economic challenges. The desire to become wealthy has led many poor people to engage in evil deeds to attain their dreams. They fail to understand the consequences of using those means to acquire wealth due to the active greed of becoming rich. According to several studies, many wealthy people experience domestic problems, which lead to the development of depression. This implies that the glittering riches do not stand out to be more appealing.

Another example of a glittering experience that is not gold is seen in the music/entertainment industry. Comedians, journalists, and artists are regarded as among the most earning individuals in society. Thus, every person has developed the desire to secure a post in the industry to shine like them. However, some young people and even adults do not understand the reality associated with the entertainment industry. It seems like a glittering experience from outside the industry. However, when people get the opportunity to get inside, they only realize that the struggling participants in the sectors have engaged in many disgraceful acts before succeeding. This makes the glitter, at last, seem not to be of gold.

Owning expensive things has also been another aspect that lures people to the glittering non-gold. Many people get admired due to expensive/nice clothes, beautiful appearances, and also costly ornaments. Thus, one develops the desire to be associated with such people in every aspect of their life. However, such attractive people may be evil due to the acts they usually perform behind bars.

Lastly, choosing friends has been among the aspects that apply most bits of "all glitters is not gold. Some liars tend to be too nice during face-to-face meetings just to win other people's hearts for friendship. However, such people tend to portray most enmity when talking behind our bars, thus proving the saying, "all that glitters is not gold."
