An autobiography can be in form of five-paragraph essay. Writing this type of essay is quite simple to many students.

English teachers in high-school regularly assign five-paragraph essays to the students as class work assignment. A five-paragraph essay begins with introductory paragraph that ends with a topic statement in the last sentence. The next is three paragraphs work which makes up the body. Finally is the concluding paragraph which wraps it all up.

Step to follow when writing an autobiography essay

  • Think about what you want to tell people about your life. State your future plan and goals that you have concerning your life. Conversely, if you were to be no more from tomorrow, how would you want people to know about the life you have lived and how would you like to be remembered?  Put answers down on a piece of paper without editing.
  • Think about yourself and make one broad statement that well describes you. This statement will serve as your Thesis statement. Do not include everything but reflect the most important things that you wrote about yourself. Write this statement towards the end of your introduction paragraph
  • Using the note that you outlined, pick out three most important things about your life. Make sure that they relate to the Thesis in a very specific manner, then write down your general statement that describes you. Write the body paragraphs of your autobiography essay in three paragraphs. Each paragraph should begin with a sentence about a specific aspect of your life describing a point at a time.
  • Remember that the introduction contains more specific information which should relate with your topic. Make it brief and begin by speaking about anything that you find it relevant and one that will grab your reader's attention.
  • Define your conclusion as you refer the information that you have written in your in your autobiographical essay. Begin with specific information but towards the end generalize it. Refer to your main points at the introduction.
  • Go through the first draft of your autobiographical essay to make correction of any grammar or mistakes that may be there. Read it through it a few times to analyze whether your essay have a flow as you intended. Make changes where necessary of your autobiography essay analyze what sounds good for you in your essay and keep your records well.
