The Perfect Way To Survive Long College Lectures

Tips And Tricks To Survive Long College Lectures

Most new students look forward to their lectures. At first, it seems quite interesting and one fails to understand what the fuss is always about. However, as you continue to have more semesters, more assignments, and more projects you get to understand the pressure. You know you are in trouble if you start googling ‘ways to awake during a lecture’. There are a few things that you can do to get through a lecture:

 1. Sit in the front row

Sitting at the front eliminates any kind of distractions you might have if you sit at the back. Your attention is more likely to get caught up in whatever students in front might be doing if you sit a few rows behind. Besides, you will have no choice but to concentrate since you cannot freely check your Instagram or fall asleep right in front of your professor.

 2. Wear comfortable clothes

Why should you make lectures more worse by dressing uncomfortably and yet getting through a 2 to 3 hour lecture is hard enough. Do yourself a favor and avoid wearing super tight clothes. Besides, sitting on those cold hard chairs for hours is not easy and you would not want to induce your misery with clothes that you can barely breathe in.

 3. Eat healthy snacks

You cannot concentrate on an empty stomach. You can carry some snacks to munch in class. However, make sure you carry quiet snacks since no one wants to hear you crunch on chips.

 4. Ask as many questions as you can

One of the best ways to stay engaged in class is asking questions. You have to know what is going on in order to ask questions. Professors like students who ask questions because it shows that you are paying attention. In addition, asking questions might prompt other students to join in the conversations and make the lecture more interesting.

 5. Prepare and take notes in class

Review whatever chapters you will be covering in class the night before. Having an idea of what the material is about will make things easier to understand since you will be learning something new. Doing this will also give you an opportunity to write down any questions you have for your professor.

Taking notes in class will make you less bored. Try to get a little creative while writing your notes to make them stand out. Use different pen colors or draw examples for the more important concepts. This way it will be easier to study, revise and remember your notes later on. In addition, taking notes will distract you from noticing how long the class is.

 6. Carry your laptop only when necessary

Your laptop and phone can be a distraction. Remember that you will have to take exams about the stuff that you are not paying attention to every time you want to Facebook. Besides, you do not want to get used to using your phone or laptop every time you get bored. As tempting as it is try keeping your phone and laptop out of sight and try as hard as you can to pay attention.

Go to your class with a positive attitude. Complaining all the time will not make anything better. The best way is to find a way to get the most out of your class even if it is boring.
