Students will do anything to avoid that never-ending flu or cold. Everything changes when you go to college since you have to fend for yourself unlike when you lived at home. However, that should not be a problem to you since it is not as hard as it seems. Here are some methods you can put into practice to keep yourself from getting sick at school:

  1. Reduce your sugar intake

Consumption of any kind of sugar could significantly slow down your body’s ability to heal itself. Glucose (sugar) essentially reduces the effectiveness of your white blood cells, which are your main defense in fighting infection in the body. Sugar can seriously slow down your immune system and it can run down to a point where you get sick. Think of it as an attempt to win a race while running backwards- you are unnecessarily slowing yourself down. If you really want to stay healthy, start checking the sugar content of what you are consuming.

Orange juice adds no value to your healthy. Orange juice is perfectly fine on a regular basis. However, the idea that drinking too much of it for Vitamin D or C to prevent sickness is just a myth. The sugar in most orange juices overwhelms any possible healing benefits you could get from drinking it. The only liquids you really should be drinking are water, herbal teas, or vegetable juices, if you are into those.

Vitamin D is significant for your immune system to stay strong and healthy. Small changes go a long way, but you do have to put a little effort in.

There is nothing wrong with having a good time, but there is no debating that it takes its toll on your energy and immune system.
