CSE Citation Style Intext
If you are working on exact ideas and expressions of a specific person when you are writing your works, there is need for you to cite the document and give credit to the origin of those words or ideas. When the precise words from the original person are used, it is essential that you use quotation in your citation.
When you decide to use the CSE (the Council of Science Editors) style for your document citation, you can chose from three CSE styles of reference to cite from.
They include;
- Citation-name (C_N) - This CSE style of citation system that uses numbers within the text to refer to the end references that are listed alphabetically by the author then by the title. When you cite using this CSE style, you have to list your reference then you number each of them for your citation to be well illustrated.
- Citation-Sequence (C_S) - This CSE style includes a system whereby you cite numbers within your text to refer to the end, which are classified in the order that they are referred to within the text. When you choose to cite your document using the Citation-Sequence, make sure that for every source you cite in the paper a number is given for the first time it appears in the text so that if the source is mention again, the text is marked using the same number of citation. This system is most applicable in chemistry lab/library assignment.
- Name-Year (N-Y) - This style of citation includes a system, which uses the surname of the author, and the year the work was published to refer to the end of references that are listed alphabetically by the author then by the year. When you are using this format for your text, know that the author of the source and the date it was published are placed in parenthesis in the text. This system is most applicable in biology classes and is similar to APA style.
- Listing the authors names - When you are using the CSE style when listing the names of the author you have to list the authors’ last name first; for the first and middle names, you have to use initials and do not put any space between them nor put commas between the last name and the initials. Suppose the work has up to nine authors, use all the authors names but if they exceed ten authors, only list the first ten names followed by a comma or "et alâ€(for others).
