The Significance of Moral Education in Future Generations

Our education begins from the moment we are born. We learn to adapt to the new environment surrounding us, we learn to become familiar with all the shapes and colors of the world, and we learn how to communicate with others. Our education is the most important aspect of shaping our future as human beings in our society. One of the very first teachings any person goes through is moral education. Moral education refers to the form of preparation for basic human life! It prepares you to live in harmony with other people in your society (Anderson). Moral education is the schooling of developing children in manners, socially acceptable behaviors, good social skills, and proper conflict resolution through ethical means. But there aren’t many educational systems nowadays that include moral education in their programs - especially for young teenagers. We need moral education for a better generation, better social interaction, and better work morals.

Some certain human traits and merits are globally agreed upon and characterized as good moral behavior. These are the characteristics that moral education utilizes to create a better generation in the future. The tiniest of morals taught in moral education could potentially shape the entire character of a child’s upbringing (Elizabeth Kiss). Teaching a child that lying and cheating are wrong and providing them with sufficient explanation builds a relationship of trust; thus, the child will be less willing to do either. Children and teenagers alike both have to realize the importance of building faith between themselves and others. These small teachings prepare children for real life where there are no shortcuts, and cheating is never the way. Moral education highly depends on the instructor being honest, patient, and understanding. Learning moral behavior takes time but ultimately leads to a much better generation. It is also beneficial to rely on building role models of great moral behavior to set an example and make moral education easier. When most teachings are supported with a cause or reason, people are more willing to take upon these teachings and build better habits.

By definition, a society is a group of people living together in agreement and according to specific social norms. If a person does not have proper moral education, they will find it very difficult to adapt and live together. Now, unless that person decides to live wholly secluded and away from humankind, then moral education is a must. It is a guideline that helps us find a path for ourselves while still being socially acceptable in terms of morals and ethics. Leading a life of honesty, love, and care create a happier and more fulfilling lifestyle. And therefore, it leads to an interactive community. This type of moral education ensures that children grow up to become productive, contributing members of society who are motivated to do some good in life. Good begets good. You cannot build a culture of bad moral behavior; it falls apart. People with good morals have profound respect for others and their environment. This ultimately creates a perfect balance in any society and stresses the importance of moral education even more.

Most of the time, our moral education takes effect in our workplace. It is the place where a lot of human and social interactions take place. This is where skills like conflict resolution become one of the most crucial skills any person could learn. Discussion is also another moral that makes coworkers run a business as usual (Through Education). It is imperative to teach children and teenagers that people could have opposing opinions, and that’s okay! Teach children to be open to discussions, and listen to others. People with these kinds of morals often find themselves very happy in their jobs and communicate much better. Moral education teaches people the value of others’ opinions and that each person is entitled to one. It all comes down to the concept of agreeing to disagree. Most children might find this difficult to understand, but it is the foundation of their future in any industry. When children learn about different points of view from a young age, it prepares them for a vast world of clashing opinions. It won’t come to them as a surprise, and they will be a better fit to deal with the situation in a reasonable manner.

Morals make it easier to adapt and move forward in society and as individual human beings. This is why it is essential to include moral education in educational programs worldwide and encourage parents to implement moral teachings at home. It is not a textbook schooling method, but more like a mutual understanding between people. It is the type of education that has no limits, boundaries, nor ends. You can keep teaching and learning different moral behavior as time, community, and norms change. But whatever method people choose, it all goes towards being better people. Teaching kindness, generosity, and love could never lead to anything other than good-natured humans in a peaceful society. It creates a better future where people could work together towards a united goal. Moral education is the way for a more harmonious living, and therefore it must be implemented globally.
